I had a recent question from a prospective payroll customer, asking me if Heartland payroll could have a unique message text on each paystub, specific to that employee only. The background to this question is that the customer had some employees that occasionally had incentive commissions, in addition to their regular pay. And in some pay periods, they may have several such commissions, such as booking a wedding or other event, or selling merchandise. In the past, their other payroll system did not have a good way to handle this, and they have had cases where terminated employees have come back to them after the fact, asking for proof they were paid for specific commissions.
So I went into our demo system, and created a $75 entry for an employee paycheck, as shown below:
In this particular demo, I used the “other” category, but those category names are customizable, so it could have easily been labelled “commissions”, or some other name. Then I added the custom text for this paycheck, as shown in the second screen entry:
So in this case I entered Ranch Owner Sale $45, an abbreviation for Wedding $25, and Merch $5, which equals the $75 commission this employee will get on this one check.
